inploi is proud to have partnered with accessiBe. With accessiBe's AI-powered technology, our bespoke careers hubs are now accessible to a far more diverse pool of applicants, meaning you can reach future talent whatever their accessibility adjustment needs.
Who is accessiBe?
accessiBe is on a mission: to make the entire Internet accessible by 2025. accessiBe's industry-leading web accessibility technology is already trusted by over 100,000 partners worldwide, from small enterprises to industry leaders, to make their websites compliant and accessible.
What do we mean by compliant? This means adherence to the framework put in place by the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG) at the AA level. These requirements have already been adopted as the accessibility standard by governments around the world, including in the UK.
So how does accessiBe work? accessiBe's technology is powered by two applications, working simultaneously. Firstly, its accessibility interface addresses around 30% of the WCAG requirements and relates to design-related adjustments: text size, colour and display adjustments, navigation adjustments, etc. Secondly, the AI-powered background process handles the other 70% of WCAG requirements, such as optimization for screen-reading and keyboard navigation. accessiBe is also GDPR compliant and maintains the highest standards with regards to users' privacy.
Given the advanced nature of the technology, you might assume that it would be complex and time-consuming to install. On the contrary, installation is simple and straightforward, with websites compliant and accessible within just 48 hours. What's more, maintenance scans are automatically carried out every 24 hours to ensure that the website remains compliant and accessible as it grows and develops.
Crucially, accessiBe has developed its offering in collaboration with internet users with disabilities, ensuring that it meets their needs and expectations. accessiBe's technology makes websites accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including people who are blind, motor impaired, epileptic, vision impaired, hearing impaired or have a cognitive disorder. In the future, their research and development will continue to be carried out side-by-side with these target users.
Why is accessibility important in recruitment?
Technology has the power to optimise recruitment processes and make them user-friendly for all users, whatever their needs. However, AI recruitment and facial analysis technology has also been shown to unfairly disadvantage neurodivergent applicants in their job hunt.
According to data from the Office for National Statistics (ONS), autistic people, those with specific learning disabilities or mental health issues have the lowest employment rates. This is backed up by surveys by the National Autistic Society, which found that less than 1/3 of autistic adults were employed - that's despite the fact that over 3/4 wanted to work. This illustrates what the charity calls the “autism employment gap.”
It goes without saying that nobody should be barred from opportunities by recruitment processes that aren't adjusted to their needs.
And from an employer's perspective, failing to conduct an inclusive recruitment process means missing out on a pool of diverse future talent.
Accessible recruitment marketing with inploi - the Haven case study
inploi is delighted to have partnered with the UK's leading holiday operator, Haven, to create their bespoke careers hub. Now we've integrated accessiBe's technology to make Haven's careers hub fully accessible and compliant - here's how.
The website now boasts a whole range of accessibility adjustments. Users are free to choose the accessibility profile that's right for them, from a range including seizure safe profile; vision impaired profile; cognitive disability profile; and ADHD friendly profile. Each one has been carefully designed to ensure that the page is adjusted to these specific needs: the seizure-safe profile, for example, eliminates flashes and reduces colour.
There are also a variety of content adjustments (including readable font, text magnifier, content scaling, and font sizing), colour adjustments (including contrast and saturation) and orientation adjustments (including mute sounds, hide images and highlight focus). The power is in the user's hands to adjust the website's UI (user interface) to suit their specific needs and preferences.
In addition, accessiBe's AI-powered application is constantly running in the background to keep the accessibility level optimised at all times. This application remediates the website's HTML, adapts its functionality and behaviour for screen-readers used by blind users, and for keyboard functions used by users with motor impairments.
This means that any candidate considering a career with Haven won't run into any obstacles with regards to the accessibility of their careers hub. For Haven, this means that they're able to engage with all visitors to the careers website, some of whom will go on to enhance Haven's diverse workforce.
accessiBe sums up their ethos in the following words: “don't just do it to be compliant, do it because it's the right thing to do.”
When it comes to recruitment marketing, we at inploi believe that it's important to be compliant with accessibility standards and make the job-hunting process as inclusive as possible.
But more than that, do it because it's the right thing for you.
inploi's partnership with accessiBe gives employers the tools you need to attract and engage candidates, whatever their accessibility needs. This in turn means that you can draw from a wider, more diverse candidate pool to find the future of your workforce.
